BELAY Reviews (2026): What Clients, Staff, and the Contract Say
BELAY Reviews (2026): What Clients, Staff, and the Contract Say

Quick answer: BELAY's client reviews are mostly positive, though some clients report problems. BELAY holds a 4.0 out of 5 TrustScore on Trustpilot from 58 reviews (checked October 14, 2026), and clients praise its matching and onboarding while the complaints center on price and on how assistant problems were handled. BELAY does not publish prices; its FAQ says support typically begins at 45 hours a month, month to month, with a free rematch if the first match is wrong. If you need a full-time assistant at a price you can see up front, Stellar Staff Pro costs $1,999 a month for 160 hours.

Disclosure: Stellar Staff publishes this article, and we are a virtual assistant staffing company ourselves, so we compete with BELAY for some buyers. Every fact about BELAY below comes from BELAY's own website or from the rating platform named, checked on October 14, 2026, with links so you can confirm it. We do not quote individual reviewers, and we do not give BELAY a score of our own.

How BELAY Works, From Discovery Call to Match

BELAY places remote, U.S.-based professionals with business leaders on a part-time, ongoing basis. The company was founded in 2010 by Bryan and Shannon Miles, and Tricia Sciortino, its first hire, has been CEO since January 2020, according to BELAY's company page. That page says BELAY has served over 25,000 leaders, and its FAQ describes a bench of more than 2,000 vetted, U.S.-based professionals.

The assistant side covers executive, personal, virtual, operations, marketing, sales, and social media roles. BELAY also runs a separate financial line with bookkeeping, payroll, tax, controller, and fractional CFO services, built partly through acquisitions of three CFO and controller firms in 2024 and two accounting firms in 2025.

The process starts with a discovery call. BELAY then picks a match from its bench, and its FAQ says most clients are matched within about a week. Two details matter for a buyer. First, BELAY does the screening; its FAQ answer on personal assistants says the screening happens on BELAY's end, so you are not running your own interview round. Second, the people you work with are not BELAY employees. Its talent FAQ says BELAY contractors are independent contractors, and its homepage says it accepts the top 3% of U.S.-based applicants and reports a 93% first-match success rate.

BELAY Ratings We Verified on Each Platform

We recorded only the figures each platform showed on its own page. Where a platform had too few reviews to mean much, we say so.

Trustpilot is where most client feedback lives. BELAY claimed its profile in July 2022, and 56 of the 58 reviews were posted in the past 12 months. The split is uneven: 71% five-star, 2% four-star, 10% three-star, 3% two-star, and 14% one-star. Trustpilot reports that BELAY replies to 88% of negative reviews, typically within 24 hours.

The other client platforms add little. BBB gives BELAY an A+ letter grade, which is separate from customer review scores, and lists 4 complaints in the past three years (sales, billing, service, and order issues), with 3 marked resolved and 1 answered. Clutch has one review, a low score for an accounting engagement from 2023, and G2 has none. Neither provides enough feedback to judge BELAY's service. We could not verify a Google rating or a Capterra listing for BELAY, so we left both out.

What BELAY Clients Praise

We read the Trustpilot reviews posted between roughly February and September 2026. The positive ones repeat a handful of points, summarized here in our own words.

  • Matching that fits. Several clients say their first match worked, and that BELAY's matching team asked detailed questions about how they work before suggesting someone.
  • A quick, easy start. Onboarding comes up often as smooth, and one client describes having two assistants in place before a planned trip.
  • Staff who communicate well. Reviewers describe BELAY's own team as responsive, patient, and attentive, with check-ins after placement.
  • More than one service under one roof. A long-term client mentions using BELAY's bookkeeping, payroll, and tax help alongside assistant support.

These themes line up with what BELAY sells: a curated match from its own bench, a client success team, and a financial services arm.

Where BELAY Reviews Turn Critical

About 17% of the Trustpilot reviews are one or two stars, and another 10% are three stars. The critical reviews cluster around a few issues.

  • Price against value. This is the most common complaint. Some reviewers felt the monthly cost was high for what they received, and one said the reason for the premium over other providers was never made clear.
  • Assistant performance, and how problems were handled. One client describes an assistant who was not getting work done and an inadequately prepared handoff. Another says the candidates presented were weak; BELAY's reply says the match had more than 20 years of experience.
  • Onboarding details. One reviewer wanted more written material and a clearer plan for the first day.
  • The sales conversation. A few reviewers describe the sales process or follow-up as pushy, and one felt the matching consultant made them feel they were not a fit for the service.

BELAY answers most of these publicly, usually by thanking the reviewer and saying it will use the feedback. Treat these as questions for your first call, especially the price and how a handoff works if an assistant leaves.

What Glassdoor and Indeed Say About Working for BELAY

Employee and contractor reviews are not client reviews, but they tell you something about the people who would do your work. BELAY holds 3.1 out of 5 on Glassdoor from 289 reviews, with 53% saying they would recommend it to a friend and 53% approving of the CEO. Indeed shows 3.5 out of 5 from 87 reviews.

On Glassdoor, the positive reviews mention remote work, flexible schedules, friendly colleagues, and a smooth start. The negative ones focus on pay and limited raises, pressure to be available outside paid hours, scope creep from clients, and limited security for contractors when a client ends an engagement. BELAY's talent FAQ says contractor rates depend on the role, the person's experience, and the engagement, and that many contractors take on more than one client as they grow.

For a buyer, the practical question is continuity. Ask BELAY how many clients your assistant will support, what happens if that person leaves, and how the handoff to a replacement works.

BELAY Pricing: A 45-Hour Starting Point and No Price List

BELAY pricing is not published. The company's site summary says pricing is custom and quoted after a consultation, and its FAQ says BELAY bills a flat monthly rate. What the site does say about cost:

  • Support typically begins at 45 hours a month.
  • Many leaders start an executive assistant or personal assistant at 10 to 20 hours a week and adjust from there.
  • Hours can be scaled up or down as needs change.
  • BELAY says it is not built to compete on rock-bottom price.

The closest thing to a number is a BELAY resource page that says most U.S.-based virtual assistants cost between $1,200 and $3,000 a month, or $30 to $75 an hour on average. That is presented as a general market range, not as BELAY's rate, and the same page says services like BELAY may cost more up front. So a quote is the only reliable way to learn what BELAY will charge you. Ask for it in writing, with the monthly hours, the rate for extra hours, and what happens to unused hours.

For how U.S.-based rates compare with offshore assistants, freelancers, and in-house staff, see our guide to what a virtual assistant costs. Our breakdown of VA pricing models explains how hour blocks differ from full-time plans.

Contract, Notice, and the Right Fit Guarantee

BELAY's public pages are clear on some terms and silent on others. This table separates the two.

The Right Fit Guarantee. BELAY's Right Fit page says that if your first solution is not right, BELAY rematches you at no additional cost, and that it coordinates the rematch if concerns are raised within 30 days. It says a rematch typically takes days, not weeks, depending on the role. The page does not define what counts as a poor fit and does not mention refunds. The 93% first-match figure on the same page is BELAY's own number.

The posted terms are website terms. The terms page linked in BELAY's footer covers use of the website, not the client service. It names BELAY, Inc., applies Georgia law, and sends disputes to arbitration in Cumming, Georgia. Billing, cancellation, and hiring terms for clients are not on it, so the agreement you sign is the document to read closely.

BELAY, Time Etc, and Stellar Staff Side by Side

Buyers searching for companies like BELAY usually look at Time Etc, which also places U.S.-based assistants, and at full-time agencies such as Stellar Staff. This table covers the points that differ most.

The three providers serve different needs. BELAY sells part-time U.S. support at a quoted price. Time Etc sells smaller blocks of hours from U.S.-based assistants, with published prices. Stellar Staff places one full-time assistant at a published monthly price. Our Stellar Staff vs BELAY comparison goes through the two companies line by line, including roles and services.

When BELAY Is the Better Choice

BELAY is a sound pick in several situations, and we would point you to it in these cases:

  • Your assistant has to live and work in the United States, for time zone, language, client expectations, or compliance reasons.
  • You need roughly 45 hours a month or a couple of hours a day, not a full workweek.
  • You would rather have BELAY screen and choose the match than interview candidates yourself.
  • You want bookkeeping, payroll, or tax help from the same company as your assistant.
  • You value a long record. BELAY has operated since 2010.

It is a weaker fit if you want to compare prices before you talk to sales, if the work fills a full week, or if you want a say in which candidate gets the job.

Stellar Staff: The Alternative for a Full-Time Assistant at a Published Price

If the work you can delegate fills a full week, Stellar Staff is the alternative we recommend. We place one dedicated assistant for 160 hours a month. Pro costs $1,999 a month, about $12.50 an hour, and Executive costs $2,999 a month. A bilingual assistant adds $200 a month. You can see those prices before any call, which is the main practical difference from BELAY.

You also choose the person. Stellar Staff receives thousands of applicants a month and accepts the top 0.1%. Candidates go through a 6-step application and 6 individual tests, written and spoken English verification, reference checks, an equipment check, professional interviews and skill assessments, internal QA, and background checks. You interview 2 to 3 finalists and pick one, and the search takes 5 to 10 business days.

Stellar Staff handles recruiting, payroll, HR, tracking, and replacements, and you direct the daily work. Replacements are free, forever. Plans are month to month with no long-term contract and 14 days' notice. Stellar Staff is the #2 VA agency on Clutch, and our talent comes primarily from the Philippines. If a U.S.-based assistant matters more to you than full-time hours, BELAY is the better choice.

Choose Stellar Staff if you have enough work for a full-time assistant, you want to see the price before the first conversation, and you want to interview the finalists and make the final call yourself. Current plans are on our pricing page, and you can read client reviews before you book. What Buyers Ask About BELAY's Cost, Terms, and Reviews

Is BELAY legit?

Yes. BELAY has operated since 2010, says it has served over 25,000 leaders, and holds a 4.0 out of 5 TrustScore on Trustpilot from 58 reviews, checked October 14, 2026. BBB gives it an A+ rating, though it is not BBB accredited. Read the client agreement before you sign, because its notice and conversion terms are not posted publicly.

How much does a BELAY virtual assistant cost?

BELAY does not publish its prices; it quotes a flat monthly rate after a consultation, and its FAQ says support typically begins at 45 hours a month. A BELAY resource page puts U.S.-based virtual assistants in general at $1,200 to $3,000 a month, but that is a market range, not BELAY's rate. For comparison, Stellar Staff publishes its price: Pro is $1,999 a month for a full-time assistant working 160 hours.

Can you cancel BELAY at any time?

BELAY's FAQ says support runs month to month, not on a long-term contract. Its public pages do not state a notice period, so ask for the cancellation terms in your written agreement and confirm your final billing date when you give notice.

Can you interview your BELAY assistant before you start?

BELAY's FAQ says the screening happens on BELAY's end, and its team picks your match based on your needs and work style. If the first match is wrong, its Right Fit Guarantee covers a free rematch when concerns are raised within 30 days. With Stellar Staff, you interview 2 to 3 finalists yourself and choose the one you want.

How much do BELAY virtual assistants get paid?

BELAY does not publish contractor pay. Its talent FAQ says BELAY assistants are independent contractors who bill for the hours they work with a client, and that rates depend on the role, the person's experience, and the engagement. On Glassdoor, pay and limited raises are among the most common complaints from people who have worked there.

What are some companies like BELAY?

Time Etc is the closest match if you want a U.S.-based assistant, since it publishes plans from $390 a month for 10 hours. Stellar Staff is the alternative for a full-time assistant: Pro costs $1,999 a month for 160 hours, the search takes 5 to 10 business days, and replacements are free, forever. Stellar Staff's talent comes primarily from the Philippines, so choose BELAY or Time Etc if U.S. location matters most.

Read BELAY's Terms as Closely as Its Reviews

BELAY's reviews hold up: a 4.0 on Trustpilot, steady praise for matching and onboarding, and a long record with U.S.-based assistants. The trade-offs are a price you only learn on a call, a 30-day window on the rematch guarantee, and client terms that are not posted publicly. The employee ratings also make it worth asking how BELAY maintains continuity when assistants leave.

Start by counting the hours you want to hand off each month. If the answer is a few hours a day and the assistant must be in the U.S., request a BELAY quote and get the terms in writing. If the list fills a full workweek, Stellar Staff places a dedicated full-time assistant at $1,999 a month, and the search takes 5 to 10 business days. Book a call to start your search.

BELAY and Time Etc details come from their own websites and from the rating platforms linked above, checked on October 14, 2026. Ratings, plans, and terms change, so confirm current figures with each provider. Stellar Staff pricing is current as of October 2026.
